Spare a Thought for ME this Christmas

 

There is a light-hearted theme to this winter page but it is here also to ask for a thought to be spared whenever giving presents - see Ways to Help This Christmas (below). Apologies again if the snow flakes annoy you. They are transitory (they disappear when you scroll down). Our Christmas wish is for a comprehensive strategy for funding for biomedical research into ME - which is the only way a cure is going to be found for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis.

Ways to Help this Christmas

Past Research last year showed that £1.2 BILLION (no misquote - one point two BILLION pounds) is wasted each Christmas on unwanted presents. Apparently people spend, on average, £33 each by panic buying last-minute gifts.

So here's a couple of ideas to avoid the waste and put that money to a good cause.

Why not give a present to ME this Christmas? There are many ways possible - some suggestions are made below.
 

1/Support Invest in ME	Invest in ME is run only by volunteers and has no salaried staff. Any donations are used to promote and fund education, publicity and lobbying relating to ME and biomedical research. Click on the DONATE button to help us.
2/Come to Our Conference The International ME/CFS Conference 2008 Sub grouping and treatments for ME/CFS  23rd May 2008 Westminster, London, UK	£35 buys a day at our conference for a pwme. Sponsor a GP - special rates for ME Groups who sponsor a medical professional who comes to the conference. Click here IiME do not receive massive subscriptions or funding, as do other ME charities. 3/ Give As You Earn	Use Give as you Earn in order for donations to be taken automatically from your salary. This allows your chosen biomedical research charity to receive your money and it will be worth an extra 28% to them - without costing you any more. This is for those receiving a taxable income.
4/ Use Every Click	Ok - this is an idea we have stolen from ME Research UK. By using Every Click (www.everyclick.com) and making IiME your charity of your choice then you can earn money for IiME. But, as we've stolen the idea, and if you don't wish to help IiME, then please choose ME Research UK as your charity (charity number SC036942) or CFS Research Foundation (charity number 1011900) - both great ways to help the ME community. This is a really easy way to assist funding of biomedical research.
5/ Have a Cuppa for ME	www.haveacuppaforme.org has details of how to hold an event. Use Christmas to organise an event yourself and donate to biomedical research - such as to CFS Research Foundation.
